Dragons of a Fallen Sun by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman. The war of souls volume 1

Something is terribly wrong in the world of krynn. Magic is failing after the chaos war. The gods have abandoned the world and have been replaced with a new god. A mysterious woman name Mina bewitches the knights of Neraka, formerly the Knights of Takhisis. They follow her without question into battle not knowing what is happening or why. Tasselhoff Burrfoot shows up in the tomb of the heroes just in time for Caramons funeral and gets caught up with a Solamic knight named Gerard and Paline Majere, wizard and nephew to Raistlin Majere. Goldmoon flees while Tass and Palin are faced to face with and evil dragon determined to obtain the time travel device that Tass brought with him. Gilthanis secretly plotting while maintaining the image of a puppet king of the Qualinesti, plans his rebellion against beryl the dragon and her knights while Silvanoshi claims his throne of Silvanesti.

This story is just beginning and there is a lot more to it. One of the best dragon lance novels I have read so far. Good paced read, the story develops at a good rate and keeps you interested. There is some Character development more than other dragon lance books which I liked, it was a nice change from the normal for dragon lance. The idea of magic failing is a interesting concept and one that we don’t yet have all the answer for but the cause is identified in this book. I wont give you any details about the cause and let you read for yourself. Like other dragon lance books the story flow is simple without a lot of complications making it easy to follow and understand. the simplicity of the story telling does not detract in anyway from the story itself, but rather helps to enhance it in this case. A rather enjoyable and read and recommended for those that like simple and good fantasy reading.

I give this book 7/10 bookworms

This is the 3rd book in the Dark Legacy series by Terry Brooks.

It picks up where the last books lefts off. Redden is still trapped in the forbidding with the shape shifter companion and the ulk bog guide desperatley looking for a way out. Railing and Mirai are continuing there search for Grianne Ohmsford the former Ard Rhys of the druids. Arlingphant and Aphenglow continue there search for the blood fire so that they can restore the ellscry tree which keeps the demons locked away in the forbidding. And the Straken Lord is still determined to make Grianne his queen.

The Forbidding is collapsing and the demons of that world are breaking free into the world. The Straken Lord brings his army of 100’s of thousands of demons to the world and begins to lay seige and destroy all that stand in his way. The situation seems quite hopeless, and with the elvin nation going through a period of instability and the druid order completley decimnated there seems to be no hope.

This book is filled with action, adventure and fun. The story moves along and a good pace. With some suprises that keep you reading this makes for an entertaining read. as usual Terry Brooks does not dissapoint. I would reccomend this series to any fantasy fan.
